The obligatory introduction

“So many fail because they don't get started - they don't go. They don't overcome inertia. They don't begin.”

- W. Clement Stone (American best selling Author and Founder of Combined Insurance Co (now a part of Aon Corp.), 1902-2002)

Hi! My name is Joachim Thieren, 23 years old and talking to you from the centre of Europe, Belgium. My favourite passtimes do not include making chocolates, brewing beer or performing high-profile international functions as you might expect (well, not yet anyway). I'm a regular guy who enjoys hobbies such as digital photography, travelling, a variety of sports, the internet, cooking and reading.

On the 'professional' level, I recently graduated as a Master of Laws from the Catholic University of Leuven, specialising in European & International Law and Private Law. Currently, I'm enrolled in an international program to obtain a Master of International Business Economics and Management at the University College in Brussels.

Like my blog description at the top of the page states, this will be a place for me to share some experiences with you, mainly with regard to the various aspects of the study field I'm currently in (ranging from Marketing over HR to general economics) or interesting things I read or find online. Don't worry: I'm not big on some forms of social exhibitionism which seem to roam the web these days, so you won't find blogposts on my behalf describing what I had for lunch (unless, of course, it was really awesome).

On the right side of the page, you can find links to my Twitter page and Flickr photostream. As I mentioned, I love photography so Flickr is currently the main place where I showcase my pictures.

So far for the obligatory introduction, on to the real work. I hope you'll enjoy your stay here and find at least some of my posts interesting. Feel free to leave a comment on what I write, or ask me any question you would like to see answered.
